Lessons from the Week: Drafting Dealer Orders and Beyond

This week, I dove into the process of drafting dealer orders, and let me tell you—there’s a lot to it! Dealers work with a different pricing structure, which means creating their invoices requires careful attention to detail. Here’s what I learned:

Getting the Invoice Right

The first step is to make sure the invoice is generated from the dealer side of Shopify. Once that’s done, it’s all about accuracy. I add all the items they’re ordering, calculate the shipping cost, and—if they’re paying with a credit card—include a 3% credit card fee. It’s a straightforward process, but getting it wrong could lead to confusion down the line.

Adding the Final Touches

Once the dealer pays, the real documentation begins. I fill out a dealer time sheet, which includes the time I printed the invoice, the dealer’s name, and their order number. I also make sure to note the shipping cost and whether the order involves dropshipping.

Dropshipping is where things can get interesting. There’s blind dropshipping, where the order goes directly to the dealer’s customer without any of our branding, and non-blind dropshipping. Either way, it’s crucial to document every detail clearly in the notes.

Wrapping It All Up

Once all the paperwork is complete, it’s time to sign off, attach the dealer time sheet to the bottom of the packing slip, and notify the warehouse. It’s a team effort to make sure everything flows smoothly from start to finish.

Looking Ahead

One thing I’ve realized through this process is how much there is to learn. For example, I’m really curious about matching lithium batteries with the correct lithium battery chargers. It’s a topic I’m excited to dive into, and I know it will only help me grow further in this role.

Being part of this team has shown me how important it is to keep learning and improving. Every week brings new challenges and opportunities, and I’m grateful to be part of it all.
